Dinner at Lafite - August 2006

30th August, 2006 - My hotel's award winning fine-dining French restaurant, Lafite, invited the Les Clefs D'Or Malaysia Chapter over for dinner. As it was in my hotel, inevidently, I was playing host, together with the Maitre d'Hotel, Mr Huza Radzi. This was a chance not only to expose Lafite to the Clefs d'Or members, but also to introduce our very new General Manager, Mr Jarlath Lynch to the society.

It was a wonderful evening! All the 9 invitees came except for the President, Mr Roslan of Istana Hotel(due to operational issues)They were namely, Mr Ragu of Prince Hotel (Vice President), Mr Ferhad or the Sheraton Imperial (Honorary Secretary), Mr Shahrom of Renaissance Hotel (PR officer), Mr Rizal of Westin Kuala Lumpur (Treasurer), Mr Michael Lee of Palace of the Golden Horses, Mr Kent Lee of Mandarin Oriental, Mr Mahathir of Nikko Hotel and Mr Raja Saiful of our sister property, Putrajaya Shangri-la.

The evening began at about 7.30pm where we were all ushered in by the beautiful Lafite Hostess, Ms Nadia to the reserved private dining room. We were welcomed by a beautiful centrepiece with the Les Clefs D'Or logo made out of sugar pastry. Mr Huza greeted us with a short welcome speech. Not long after, the Executive Chef, Mr Gremer popped in to say hello.

The menu for the night was a magnificent 4 course menu, accompanied by very carefully pairings of 4 different kinds of wine to suit the palate.

**Compliments to the Chef.

During dinner, our GM, Mr Lynch dropped by and had a chat with us. Then during dessert, Mr Huza joined in and shared a little of his background with Lafite and later expalined to all of us the concept of Lafite.

All in all, it was an impressive experience. No doubt, the food and service was top class and we left the restaurant awestrucked.

A GREAT evening of fine wine, food and service! Kudos to Mr Huza and the Lafite for hosting such a wonderful evening!
