From the Chef Concierge's Desk

It's inevitable...the management is bringing in a new Chef Concierge. Therefore, come September 2006, my days as the Acting Chef Concierge will be over.

Throughout this short period of my so called 'reign' as a temporary chef Concierge, I have faced quite a number of challenges and learning experiences. Some of the memorable ones were:-

1. Going through the process of interviewing and hiring two temporary Arab Coordinators for the seasonal Middle Eastern influx. (Mr Sami and Mr Ahmad, really cool guys!)
2. Submitting the Capital Expenditure forms (CAPEX) for an order of 3 new birdcage trolleys, and FINALLY getting them on board + getting the old ones repaired
3. Going through the interviewing process for hiring future Airport Representatives (and these were actually veterans in the market! Very nerve wrecking)
4. In an ongoing project of re-designing the Concierge Luggage storage room
5. Managing and making decisions with regards to manning issues
6. Meeting up with VVIPs (Royalties, Prime Minister, local and foreign ministers, ambassadors etc)
7. Being accepted as a member of the Les Clefs d'Or!
8. Handling daily management issues in the Concierge like the monthly reports, newspaper billings, renewal of contracts etc
9. Most importantly - getting self-exposure within my own hotel and also within the industry.

Although it would be sweet if I actually did get a permanent promotion prior to this acting job, but on a positive aspect, I will get to learn more with the new guy that will be coming in plus, I get to go back to what I enjoy most, interacting with the guests, which I have not got to do much these past months due to the paperwork and projects that I was involved in.

All in all it was an adventure. A very stressful, yet sweet adventure.

Signing out,

Mr Sharezal,
The Acting Chef Concierge
